If you live in Charlotte, there's a good chance you've had something from Manolo's. The bakery on Central Avenue, in the heart of east Charlotte, bakes more than 65 kinds of artisan bread, plus cakes, desserts and the pan dulce people line up for every morning: conchas, empanadas and pastelitos. Its bread also reaches more than 100 stores, restaurants and supermarkets across North Carolina and Virginia.
The story goes back to 2011, when Manolo Betancur bought what had been the city's first Hispanic bakery. Years later he gave it his name. Today Manolo's is a Charlotte institution, and now its regulars carry it in their phones.
A stamp card that lives in Wallet
Manolo's runs its loyalty program on Zolu. Instead of a paper punch card, customers keep a loyalty card in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, right next to their boarding passes and tickets.
Joining takes seconds: scan the QR code at the counter and the card is in your Wallet. There's no app to download and nothing to remember. Each visit, the team scans the card and the stamp lands instantly. When a reward is ready, it shows up on your phone.
For the bakery, the change is just as simple. No stamps to buy, no cards to print, and a clear view of who comes back and how often. Every visit becomes a name and a relationship, not just a sale.
Why it matters for a neighborhood bakery
A bakery like Manolo's lives on regulars: the family that picks up bread every Sunday, the office that orders a cake every birthday. A loyalty card in Wallet keeps those people close, without asking them to do anything new.
