A digital business card is a short web page with your name, photo, job, contact details and links. People open it from a QR code, a link or a tap of an NFC card, and save you to their phone in one step. No app on their side, nothing to reprint when your number changes.
This guide covers what a digital card is, how it compares to paper, what to put on it and how to make one with Zolu.
What is a digital business card?
It's your contact card as a page on the web, with its own address. With Zolu that address is zolu.me/your-name. When someone opens it they see:
- your photo or logo, your name and what you do;
- buttons to call, email, text or message you on WhatsApp;
- your links: website, LinkedIn, Instagram, portfolio, booking page;
- a Save contact button that adds you to their phone's contacts, photo included.
Because it's a page and not a printed card, you can change it whenever you want. Change jobs, phone numbers or logos and every person who has your link sees the new version.
Digital vs paper business cards
Paper cards still work for a first impression. A digital card adds what paper can't do:
- It never runs out. One link and one QR code, as many times as you want.
- It stays current. Edit it and the change is live everywhere.
- People save it in one tap. No typing your email from a card at the end of an event.
- The conversation goes both ways. With Zolu, people can leave their own details on your card, and they arrive in your contacts with a follow-up task.
- You know it worked. Zolu shows how many people opened your card and where they came from (QR, link, NFC or your email signature).
Many people keep both: a paper or NFC card in the pocket that leads to the digital one.
What to put on a digital business card
Keep it short. The goal is that someone who met you for 30 seconds knows who you are and how to reach you.
- A clear photo (or your logo, for a business).
- Your name and one line about what you do: "Real estate agent in Charlotte" says more than a long title.
- One or two ways to contact you that you actually answer.
- Your three most useful links. More than that and nobody clicks.
- A main button, like "Book a call" or "See our menu".
We go into detail in what to put on a digital business card.
How people receive and save your card
There are four common ways to share it:
- QR code: show it on your phone or print it on a sign, flyer or table tent. The other person points their camera at it.
- Link: paste zolu.me/your-name in a message, your social bio or your email signature.
- NFC card: tap a Zolu Card on the back of their phone and your card opens.
- Email signature and video calls: Zolu creates an email signature and a virtual background with your QR, so every email and call shares your card.
On your card, Save contact downloads a contact file that iPhone and Android phones open in their contacts app.
How to make a digital business card with Zolu
Zolu opens to everyone on October 20. Save your spot on the waitlist and we'll email you that day. These are the steps you'll follow:
- Open Cards and tap Create your card. Zolu asks what you want to achieve: share your contact (a personal card), sell your services (a business card), or show your work, get bookings or share your links (a Link page).
- Choose a style. You see your real card while you choose, and you can add your photo or skip it for now.
- Make it yours and publish. Write your name, what you do, your contact details and links, then tap Publish. The preview shows exactly what people will see.
- Share it by QR, link, NFC or email signature.
Your zolu.me address is created from your name, and you can change it in the Share tab. Already have a Linktree page? On the first step, tap Import from Linktree to bring your links in.

FAQ
Do people need an app to open my digital card?
No. Your card opens in any phone's browser from a QR code, a link or an NFC tap.
Can I change my card after I share it?
Yes. Edit it in Zolu and publish: everyone who opens your link sees the new version. Your link and QR code stay the same.
Will my card show up on Google?
Only if you want. Each card has a "Show my page on Google" option. It's on by default for business cards and Link pages, and off for personal cards.
Is my information private?
Only what you choose to show is public. You can keep any field private, and your phone number never appears unless you add it to the card.
